Pinpoll is built for news publishers: AI writes polls for your articles, widgets embed natively, and you can earn ad revenue inside them, all from an Austrian, EU-hosted platform. For anyone else it is a hard sell: the entry plan costs $250 a month for 20 polls, 10 quizzes and 1 form, and quiz logic, templates and marketing integrations are thin.
Testing note: Pinpoll offers no free trial or self-serve access. When we signed up, all we could do was paste a URL and let Pinpoll generate a poll for that page; anything beyond that requires booking a demo. So we could not build a quiz hands-on, and this review is based on publicly available information: Pinpoll’s own product, pricing and legal pages, its help center, and user ratings on G2, checked October 1, 2026. We compare it with Opinary, Riddle and Opinion Stage.

What is Pinpoll?
Pinpoll is a platform for polls, quizzes, personality tests, forms and voting contests on websites, made by Pinpoll GmbH in Linz, Austria (registered in 2015). It is aimed mainly at digital news publishers, with media brands such as ORF, IPPEN.MEDIA, MDR, kicker and Sport1 shown on its site. Alongside the poll tools (Pinpoll Tools), it sells a data management platform and an ad product that places ads inside poll widgets (source).
Key features
- Content types: Polls (including multi-question polls and open questions), quizzes, personality tests, forms for contests and newsletter sign-ups, and voting contests.
- AI polls (Pinpoll Inspire): Suggests poll questions from article text and can auto-publish AI polls on the day’s most-read articles (source).
- Publisher embedding: Native (non-iframe) embeds, AMP support, newsletter polls, real-time results and lazy loading.
- Voting security: Bot detection, SMS verification, email verification for forms and reCAPTCHA for public votes (source).
- Monetization: Ads inside poll widgets with a revenue share of 75:25 (your ads) or 50:50 (Pinpoll’s ads) after a 5% tech fee, on the Corporate plan plus a setup fee (source).
- Integrations: A REST API for CMS integration and webhooks to send form data to a CRM; we found no native Zapier, HubSpot or Mailchimp connectors (source).
Ease of use and interface
Pinpoll says polls and quizzes take minutes to create, and its help center has interactive product tours. Users on G2 rate it 4.4/5 from 39 reviews, praising the simple interface and real-time results and criticizing shallow analytics, limited templates and limited customization. Some advanced options, such as design overrides and answer shuffling, live in embed-code attributes rather than the editor, which suits developers more than marketers. The WordPress plugin has not been updated in about six years and now only embeds poll links.
Pricing and plans
Pinpoll lists monthly prices in euros, plus variable fees and a setup fee, with a money-back guarantee. There is no free plan; the main site leads with demo requests. Prices checked October 1, 2026 on Pinpoll’s pricing page.
- Enterprise: $250/month – 20 polls, 10 quizzes, 1 form, unlimited votes, help center and email support.
- Corporate: $450/month – unlimited polls, quizzes and forms, customer success management on request, $25/month per extra user.
- Contracted: Price on request – tailored terms with an SLA on request.
Privacy and support
Privacy is a strength. Pinpoll runs on Microsoft Azure servers in the EU, concludes a GDPR data processing agreement automatically when you create an account, and is a registered IAB Europe TCF vendor (source). Two details are worth checking with the vendor: the pricing page calls the tools “cookieless”, while the privacy declaration lists a visitor cookie and local storage items, and the terms give Pinpoll broad rights to reuse content customers create (source). We found no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certificate for Pinpoll itself. Support covers a help center in English and German, chat and email, with customer success and SLAs on higher plans.
Pros and cons
- AI polls generated from your articles
- Native and AMP embeds built for news sites
- Ad revenue share inside poll widgets
- EU hosting, automatic DPA and IAB TCF registration
- $250/month entry plan with tight content limits
- No free plan; setup and variable fees on top
- Thin quiz logic, templates and native integrations
- Outdated WordPress plugin and some stale documentation
What’s new in 2026
Recent product updates from Pinpoll, last checked October 1, 2026:
- June 2026: Pinpoll documented a CMS integration API that lets newsrooms create polls and fetch AI poll suggestions straight from their content management system (source).
Final verdict
Pinpoll is a capable, privacy-minded choice for European news publishers who want polls on every article with little editorial effort, plus first-party data and a share of ad revenue. Outside publishing, the value is weaker: $250 a month buys 20 polls and 10 quizzes, there is no free plan, and lead-gen features like branching, templates and native CRM connectors are limited. For publishers it earns 3.5/5; marketers and small teams will get more from Riddle, Interact or Opinion Stage.
